Dating back to the mid-1700's the collection of buildings that form the Farnham Maltings have been used as a tannery and during the 1800's as a brewery. It continued to be used a a brewery until the 1950s when brewing on the site became uneconomic and the building was abandoned and fell into disrepair. Later, the building was sold to the town of Farnham and a significant restoration process, assisted by local volunteers saw the building come back into use during the 1970s. The first monthly Maltings market was held at this time and continues to this day. The building now includes artists' studios, galleries, cafes and dance studios. |
